But this beautiful treasure is contained in us—cracked pots made of earth and clay—so that the transcendent character of this power will be clearly seen as coming from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 (VOICE)
We spend a lot of time trying to make our outsides look great. We fix our cracks, our chips and our worn spots so no one can see the inside. We want to look great on the outside. But we were made to be vessels that hold the light of Jesus to share with the world. When we’ve asked Jesus to live in our hearts, his power becomes alive on the inside. If we keep our cracks sealed up, the light can’t get out. The more cracks we have, the more obvious his power becomes. Maybe instead of looking stellar on the outside, we should strive to be cracked pots and let his light get out to the world where it is supposed to be! Nurturing what’s on the inside is far better than fixing the outside.
