Are You on the Guest List?

Who may worship in Your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter Your presence on Your holy hill? Psalms 15:1 NLT

King David in Psalm 15 asks an interesting question. He is wondering what type of person God would invite to His home. David then answers his question with eleven things that one might strive for. None of us are perfect. Sometimes we need to look in the mirror and see how we measure up. I know there are areas that I need to improve on. Thankfully, we have a loving Savior who is willing to help us.

  1. Live a life that is blameless like Abraham and Daniel. (Matthew 5:48)
  2. Do what is right. (1 John 3:6-10)
  3. Speak the truth with a sincere heart. (Proverbs 4:23)
  4. Refuse to gossip. (James 3:2-11)
  5. Don’t do something that would hurt others. (Matthew 7:12)
  6. Don’t associate with others intent on doing evil.
  7. Do associate with those that love the Lord and seek to do good.
  8. Keep your promises even when it hurts.
  9. Lend money to others without expecting anything in return.
  10. Don’t lie about others.
  11. Don’t take bribes to provide a false witness against others.

I think Psalm 15 is a good reminder of how we can love God and others. We are not perfect but with Jesus’ help, we can be victorious.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. Philippians 3:12 NLT
