Blessed are you when people insult you???

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. (Matthew 5:11 NIV)

This verse is a continuation of verse 10.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy being insulted or having lies said about me.  If Christ suffered insults, persecution, and lies about Him, should we expect anything less?  Jesus said to His disciples in Matthew 10:22 that they would be hated because of their love for Him.  BUT hold firm because in the end you will be in heaven.  Jesus also said in Matthew 10:39 if you lose your life because of your faith in Him you will find it.  The world is not happy when we don’t go along with them.  Pray for those that insult you and persecute you that they too will find the peace and joy that gives you the faith to stand firm.
