Changing Direction

Plans for You

Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” (Genesis 4:6-7 NIV)

Cain was angry, He was angry because he wanted to give God a sacrifice but he wanted the sacrifice to be of his choosing, not what was pleasing to God. When God rejected the sacrifice, Cain started planning how to take out his anger on Abel, his brother. God loved Cain. He tried to talk him out of this choice.  Basically, he was saying “Don’t do this. The path you are going to take will destroy you.  Choose to destroy it first.”  Cain did not listen and killed his brother. Like Cain, God talks to each one of us. He speaks to lead us to a better place. When you hear the still, small voice, what do you do? Do you react like Cain and follow your original plan or do you change direction?
