Choose Life – Choose the LORD

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NIV)

Moses called the congregation together to share some important insight that applies to us today.  In Deuteronomy 28, Moses lists the blessings God has in store for them when they reach the promise land.  However, if they choose not to follow God then He will withdraw His protection and the blessings will turn into curses.  In our scripture today, Moses is saying choose LIFE.  Choose to follow the LORD.  The decisions you make will affect your children.  Hold fast to the LORD.

Moses’ talk to the Israelites apply to us today.  Our decisions either draw us closer or away from the LORD.  Our decisions affect our families.  They affect the people around us.  Choose for the LORD that your days will be full of blessings and you will be a blessing to those around you.
