In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: (Philippians 2:5 NIV)
We live in a selfish, self-centered world. We are told you must look out for yourself first. It is ok to push others aside to reach the top. But this attitude does not endear ourselves to others. It does not build loving relationships with family, friends, co-workers, employees, employers, and the stranger you meet on the street.
How do we have the mindset that Christ had? When you read the gospels, you see that Jesus put others first. He sent out of His way to meet people that were hurting. He touched the untouchables. He ate with sinners. How was He able to love the unlovables? Jesus spent long hours in prayer. He went out to a quiet place in the mornings and prayed to the Father. His prayers were always “Thy will be done.” Christ is our example. We need to ask for help to love the unlovable. We need to ask for a Christ-like attitude so we can put Him first in our lives so that we can love everyone that we meet each and every day.
Lord, help us to be more like you. May all our relationships be loving. We want you first in our lives. May our love for you grow stronger each day. May our love for you spill out to those around us. May they see you in us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
