Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (Col 3:23)
Did you ever have a job that you hated? You dreaded Monday mornings? Yes, I have had those jobs. It was so hard to make myself go to work. Paul gives some good advice. Treat your job as though it you are working for the Lord. Pray for the people you are working with. God may have you there because He has someone who needs to hear the gospel.
This makes me think of a story about 911 and a man who didn’t like his job but stuck with it because he felt God wanted him there. I don’t remember his name but I will call him Peter. He was a financial manager working in one of the twin towers. He hated his job. His wife encouraged him to look for another job but he said he felt that God wanted him there. He was active in sharing his faith with his employees and coworkers. He was much loved. If anyone had a problem they knew they could go to him. Peter was trapped in the tower with many others on 911. According to a coworker who had called home to say goodbye to his wife and children, he mentioned that Peter was conducting a prayer meeting and he was going to join it. Peter spent his last moments leading others to Christ. We may not be happy with the job we are at but if you look at it though Christ’s eyes you may see others that need you there.
