Do You Have Wisdom?

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10 NIV)

The fear of the Lord is reverence which combines love, awe, and gratitude.  Fearing/reverencing God is the first step towards true wisdom.  As we study His word we gain gratitude for God’s gracious plan of Salvation.  Studying God’s Word teaches us understanding of God.  The second step is surrendering our life to Christ.  Making a commitment to follow Him.  As we develop a relationship with Him we become more like Him.  We take on His character of love.  True wisdom is a knowledge of God that results in being assimilated in His love.  Our love for Him is displayed in our love for others.  Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13:2 that if we don’t have love we are nothing.
