Does God Answer Prayers?

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Luke 11:10 NIV

Prayer is not to persuade God to accept our will for a certain matter. It is more about our discovering His will regarding the matter. He knows our needs before we do. We are not always conscious of our needs. Things that we ask for may not be the best choice for us. The purpose of prayer is to bring our will and life into harmony with the will of God. It is not the true purpose of prayer to work a change in God but to work a change in us so that we desire “both to will and to do His good pleasure”.

God always answers prayer. It may be yes or no, or wait. Sometimes, delayed prayer is because there needs to be a change in our hearts or in the hearts of the people we are praying for before God can answer it. If there is a delay, we need to go to God and ask if there is something that we need to change in our lives. Don’t give up if your prayers have not been answered the way you expect. Have patience. God is working on it, and when the time is right, they will be answered according to His will.
