Don’t Be Afraid

I woke up this morning troubled in my heart. I felt uneasy and afraid. Just the latest news headlines are enough to scare anyone. What are people thinking? In addition, each of us also faces our own challenges and some carry a huge burden. I prayed for God to fill me up with His outlook so that I could face the day strong. I started reading through my ‘routine’ of the Bible and some devotionals. Here are some of the texts I read. Do you think God was talking?

‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ 2 Kings 6:16 (NIV)

But the Lord made the earth by his power,

and he preserves it by his wisdom.

With his own understanding

he stretched out the heavens.

When he speaks in the thunder,

the heavens roar with rain.

He causes the clouds to rise over the earth.

He sends the lightning with the rain

and releases the wind from his storehouses.

The whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge!

The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make,

for their carefully shaped works are a fraud.

These idols have no breath or power.

Jeremiah 10:12-14 (NLT)

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 (NLT)

O my people, trust in him at all times.

Pour out your heart to him,

for God is our refuge.  Psalm 62:8 (NLT)

No matter how scary things look to us, God is always in control.
