Don’t Worry

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34 NIV)

If I were to ask God what is my task for today, based on this verse he’d say “Live today with me. Don’t be anxious about tomorrow. Leave tomorrow in my hands.” This is not saying we shouldn’t plan and consider tomorrow. It is saying we should not worry or be anxious about tomorrow. When we become worried or anxious, we miss what God is doing right now, in this moment, in our lives. To live for today, not tomorrow means to put my all into each moment of today and not be so distracted by my “tomorrow worries.” If I am consumed by my tomorrow worries, I may miss God totally today. If I miss an opportunity to see God today, I’ve minimized my tomorrow as well.
