And you have borne, and have patience, and for My name’s sake you have labored and have not fainted. (Revelation 2:3 MKJV)
The Ephesian Christians did not have it easy living among people who had different views on life. The people in Ephesus not only worshipped gods made of stone and metal but they also lived immoral lives. Part of their worship included temple prostitutes both male and female. Their feasts consisted of foods offered to pagan gods. If you wanted to succeed in society and business, you participated in their pagan festivals. The Christians believed in the word of God and His commandments and choose not to participate. They were called atheists because they would not worship the Roman emperor or the pagan gods. Life was not easy but they stood firm for God. Jesus recognized them for being faithful and following Him at all costs. Are we doing the same today?
