Forgiving Others

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:11 NIV

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.” Luke 17:3-4 NIV

In Luke 17:1-2, Jesus warns us not to be stumbling blocks to others that may cause them to sin. However, if someone sins against us, we are not to try to get even. If they come to us and repent of their sin, we are to forgive them. Even if they sin against us seven times in a day and ask for forgiveness, we are to forgive them.

If you live or work with someone that aggravates you seven times in a day, that can be very frustrating. Forgiving them will preserve your relationship with them. The best way to keep from being frustrated is to pray. Start your day with prayer. Pray when they step on that last nerve.

God forgives us. We are to forgive others. Matthew 6:12

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 NIV
