God, Are You Listening?

…”I am willing,” he said… (Mark 1:41 NIV)

I wonder if we asked a large group of people if they trusted God what the response would be. I think the majority of us trust that God can do something but we don’t necessarily trust that he will. There are many things we don’t know, because we are not God. But there are also things we do know. Like for example, we know God hears every prayer (1 John 5:14). We know he delights in giving us gifts (Matthew 7:11). We know God is love and even more importantly, he loves us (1 John 4:8 and John 3:16). We know that Jesus was willing to leave everything he knew and loved to come here and hang out with the likes of us (John 1) for the sole purpose of demonstrating how deep, far and wide that love would go (Ephesians 3:18). So even if we can’t immediately see the answers to our prayers, it doesn’t mean God isn’t listening. It doesn’t mean he’s not working. God is always working (John 5:17). It just means we can’t see it yet. What we can count on is the unseen and that God is always willing.
