For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)
In Jeremiah 29, Jeremiah wrote a letter of encouragement to the people in exile in Babylon. He said to marry, have children and grandchildren, build houses and plant gardens. They would be there 70 years and then will be able to return to Jerusalem. God had allowed these people to be taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar to protect them. God knew Nebuchadnezzar would destroy Jerusalem and everyone in it. The people who were taken to Babylon were despondent. They did not know they were there because God was protecting them.
Sometimes we become despondent and discouraged because things are not working out the way we expected. We wonder “where is God”? Why did He allow this to happen? God has a plan. He knows the big picture. We just need to trust Him. His plans will always be fulfilled. His plans for us are for our good. He has a future and a hope for us. Just keep trusting Him.
