God’s Will

Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV)

We often pray to know what God’s will is for us.  Paul says God’s will is for us to be happy.  God wants to communicate with us.  God wants us to be grateful.

REJOICE ALWAYS:  Life has its highs and lows.  It is easy to rejoice when we are at a high point in our life.  It is during the low times that we find hard to rejoice.  Even in bad times we can find the silver lining to rejoice.  Rejoicing during the low times will lift us up and give us hope and strength knowing that God is with us.

PRAY WITHOUT CEASING:  God wants to communicate with us.  He wants to have a close relationship with us.  It is through prayer that we can communicate with Him.  We can tell Him things that we can’t tell anyone else.  He listens when no one else will.  He knows the sorrows of our hearts.  He knows the joys.  He longs for the day when we will see Him face to face and He can hold us in His arms.

IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS:  A grateful heart is a heart filled with joy.  Being thankful gives us a good outlook on life.  Giving thanks during the low times gives us confidence that God is by our side and everything will work out.  Giving thanks also draws you closer to Him the same way it does when we say thank you when others do something for us.  Have you told Jesus today how much you appreciate His sacrifice that we may have eternal life with Him?
