Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)
I am reading a book by A W Tozer called God’s Pursuit of Man. In it he talks about the misconception we have that if we say we accept Jesus as our Savior but our life doesn’t reflect “the new creation,” our acceptance is in word only – without power. Jesus said he came so we could live life abundantly (John 10:10). We are not meant to live a powerless life stuck in our same old self. We are meant to be created new through our relationship with Jesus. Accepting Jesus in word only covers the “technical” aspect of salvation. When the gospel starts to change who you are, you are experiencing the power behind it. To have the abundant life Jesus wants for us, we must be changed on the inside. Only in this way are we truly free.
