He Gives Us A New Song

I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD. (Psalms 40:1-3 NLT)

Have you ever been in wait mode with God? You are praying, you are surrendering to his thoughts (even though you don’t know what they are) and nothing is happening. In David’s Psalm God finally listened and acted. But it doesn’t always turn out that way. Sometimes the wait is long and you are stuck in “I waited and waited and waited….”  But in the wait if we stay focused on God, no matter how long it is, we learn how to trust. As we learn how to trust, we learn how to sing and we submit and say “Not my will but thy will be done.” It’s a process. Maybe for some of us it takes longer because we are slow learners. But once you get to the praising-no-matter-what part, there is nothing that you can’t overcome.
