He Goes Before Us

The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. (Act 9:11 NIV)

Saul was a bad man. He was mean. He traveled from town to town and harassed folks, throwing them in prison and sometimes killing them. His reputation preceded him for miles and miles. He was known all over the country and brought fear into the hearts of many. There was a man named Ananias who lived in Damascus, where Saul was headed. One night when Ananias was sleeping, God spoke to him and said “Ananias, I want you to go to Straight Street and talk to Saul.” Ananias woke up and said, “Wait. What? That guy is a menace. If I go there, my life will be in danger.” God said, “I know. Go. I’ve already gone before you.”
