But he kept on looking around to see who had done it. Mark 5:32 (NLT)
Jesus was surrounded by a lot of people pressing on every side. He was on his way to a synagogue leader’s home to help cure his sick daughter. And suddenly, he stopped in the middle of everything and started looking for a woman. This woman had been sick for twelve years with a disease that made her an outcast in her world. She would have been separated from her family, her friends and her community. There was a little girl dying and Jesus was on his way to heal her and still he stopped, in his tracks, to connect with and heal a woman who probably hadn’t been comforted in 12 years. His kind words and emotional touch may have healed her more than the curing of her disease. How often do we run from one appointment to the next not noticing those around us that may need a kind word? Jesus didn’t rush on to the next thing. And still, today, he is taking the time to connect with us just where we need it most.
