He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Psalm 91:4 (NLT)
The protective imagery of a mother bird sheltering her chicks under her wings shows us that God tenderly cares for us. On the outside the wings keep bad things out but on the underside are the soft, fluffy, tickly feathers that lets us know there is tenderness in our protection. But what if we need something more powerful than the wing of a bird? In verse 11-12 we are told there is more at work than imagery. We are guarded and protected by armies of angels. Why? Because we love him and trust him (v 14). That’s it. We belong to God. We are his. We are protected.
