He is My Shield

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. (Psalms 3:1-3 NIV)

King David is running for his life from his son Absalom.  What pain he must have felt when his own son is trying to take the kingdom away from him and kill him.  Those in the fleeing group thinks it is hopeless.  Absalom has a larger army.  David only has a small group that was put together at the last moment.  Are you going through a difficult time?  Has someone close to you betrayed you?  Even though David was going through a difficult time he kept his eyes on the LORD.  He knew that the LORD was with him.  Jesus promises to always be with us.  He will be with us in the difficult times as well as the good times.
