He Will Walk with Us

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. (Isaiah 43:2 NLT)

When I read this verse I think of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the fiery furnace in Daniel 3.  They stood firm, they would not worship the pagan image.  Even under threat of death they said they would not bow down.  They told King Nebuchadnezzar that their God was able to save them but if He chose not to, they still would not bow down.  This made the king furious and he had the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual and had the three young men thrown into the fire.  God was able.  He protected them from the fire.  In fact, He joined them in the fire.  What an awesome God we serve.  God doesn’t always keep us from the fire, but He will walk with us in the fire.
