He’s Always With You

Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. Luke 22:31 (NLT)

Jesus said this to Peter as they were walking toward his final hours. After his crucifixion and death, the disciples would be sorely tested in so many ways. Sifting here is analogous to severe shaking. It was used during the harvest to separate the wheat from particles of dirt and stone.  Jesus was letting them know it was about to get rough.  But he didn’t leave them there.  He told them he was praying for them. And then in verses 40 and 46 he said Pray! Pray! No matter what shaking is happening in your life, pray.  You are not alone.

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:20 (NLT)
