Hold On!

Talk to God throughout the day.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:23-24 NIV)

What if? Lately I’ve been reflecting a lot on life and the things that can happen that will through you off kilter. I’ve had a lot of time to think about that as I go back and forth between the hospital and home. Of course, I talk to God a lot during this time. The other day, as I was talking to Him I heard the thought “You asked for a closer walk.” I would have thought that was God except the tone was too negative. It was more an accusatory tone than a kind tone. Accusatory tones don’t come from God.  Sure, God tells me where I need to adjust but it is never unkind.  But then I started thinking “What if?” What if this was in answer to my request to know God more and draw closer to Him. What if it is God that is allowing the things that make our world seem like it is rocking off balance? What if it is God that is removing all the things we have that make us feel secure so we lean more on Him?  Funny thing…we ask for things and don’t really comprehend what it could truly mean if we get it. One thing I am really grateful for is knowing that God knows my heart. He knows I meant it when I asked and the Bible promises He will complete the work He’s started in our lives. So, what if this is God removing the things that I don’t need so He can put in more of Him?  In that case I would say, “Let’s go!  You lead, I’ll hold on.”
