How Long Will You Waiver Between Two Opinions?

Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.  (1 Kings 18:21 NIV)

When the ten tribes of Israel separated from the 12 tribes, they slowly lost touch with God.  They started following the gods of the Canaanites.  God sent several prophets to encourage them to return to Him.  Instead they got further and further away from Him.  Elijah was the prophet when King Ahab was in power.  There were three years of drought and famine in the land because God withdrew His blessings and stopped the rain.  At the end of the three years Elijah goes to Mount Carmel and invites all of the people to a show down.  Who is stronger, the Canaanite gods or the God of Heaven?  The people needed to make a choice.  Who did they trust?  The gods of the Canaanites or the God of Heaven.  Read the story in 1 Kings 18.  We have the same choice today.  Who do we choose?  The God of Heaven or the things of the world?  The word of God or the word of man?
