I Am A Sinner

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. (Romans 3:23-24 NLT)

God has given us a standard to live by.  He is a Holy God and has given us His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments.  His law is a law of love.  The first four commandments tell us how to love Him.  The last six tells us how to love each other.  I don’t know about you but I don’t always meet His standard.  Well, I miss one of them each day.  I am so thankful that I serve a loving God who forgives me when I miss the mark.  When I confess my sins, Christ puts His robe of righteousness around me.  When God sees me, He sees Christ.  Jesus died for my sins so that I may be righteous.  Doesn’t make sense, does it?  I am so happy that He has made a way for me to be forgiven.  I don’t have to dwell on past mistakes that weigh me down with guilt.  He forgives and releases me from the guilt.  He helps me to meet the standard that God has set.  It is not me, it is Christ.  I don’t have the ability to live a sinless life.  It is Christ in me that gives me the strength to resist temptation.  When I fail, He is there to pick me up.  I give glory to Christ and His righteousness.
