Jesus’ Mission is Our Mission

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, Luke 4:18 NIV

Jesus is quoting Isaiah 61:1 in our verse today. This was His mission statement. It was the reason He came to this earth. This is also our mission statement. We are to proclaim the Gospel to the whole earth, rich and poor. The Gospel will release people from the traps of Satan. They will be free. We may not be able to give physical sight to the blind unless we are a doctor, but we can provide spiritual sight to those who are spiritually blind. Many read the Bible but don’t understand it. Studying with others will help them to see spiritually, and it will help us have a better understanding. We will both receive freedom from Satan.
