Jesus’ Prayers

Very early the next morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a lonely place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35 (GNT)

Wouldn’t you love to listen to one of Jesus’ prayers? Did He share his frustrations? What did He talk about? Were His prayers mostly full of Thanksgiving than requests? Did He spend time just listening and not talking? I would love to have heard Him pray. When Jesus left, He said He was sending something better to us to help us pray.  He was sending the Holy Spirit.  While I believe that this side of heaven I will not be able to have the conversations with God like Jesus did, I do have the Holy Spirit to help me.  He intervenes for me sharing my heart with God (Romans 8:26 GNT).  I am thankful for this gift. I don’t have to worry about what I say – I think God is just happy I come.

In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26 (GNT)
