Laodicea – The Call of the Spirit

Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what He is saying to the churches. Revelation 3:22 NLT

Each message to the individual churches ends with an altar call.  Listen to what the Spirit is saying.  Repent and turn your life around.  Jesus is standing at the door waiting.  He has so much to offer.  All we need to do is accept His offer of salvation.  It’s free!

Church throughout History

The message to the church of Laodicea is also a message to the church in the last days (1840s to 2nd Coming of Jesus).  It is a message to help us prepare for His return.  The fire that was during the reformation and Philadelphia period has gone to barely an ember.  The church doesn’t have conflicts with the world because it has become too much like the world.  The Bible is no longer used as a guide to living a righteous life.  Since the publication of Darwin’s Origin of Species, the Bible has been analyzed using “scientific methods”.  Many seminaries and denominations have lost respect for the Bible as the revelation of God.

Father God, help us recognize your voice calling us to repent and invite you into our lives. We want to be ready when you return. Please give us victory over the world as you have been victorious. We know we can’t do it alone; we have tried. Only you have the power over sin. We pray for that power. We pray for your Holy Spirit to dwell in us to guide us and give us the power to be overcomers. Lord, we also want to be a witness to the world of your power that others will be drawn to you. Thank you for making us overcomers. We look forward to seeing you face to face soon. We love you. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen.
