Looking for Joy in the Wrong Places

“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. (John 17:13 NIV)

When Jesus was here he talked to his disciples, lived life with them, and gave them an example to follow. As he was getting ready to leave he said in a prayer, “I have told them many things while I was with them so that they would be filled with my joy.” Interesting that what Jesus said would fill us with joy wasn’t things or career paths but actions like loving God, loving one another, put yourself last. It’s no wonder we are missing regular joy in our lives. We are looking for it in the wrong places.
