Looking on the inside

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

Our outward appearances do not reveal our real motives in life. We can misunderstand someone’s motives by their appearance or actions. We often have a “mask” on for the world, but inside there is a different story. Only God can know our inner thoughts and motives. Sometimes, we don’t even know why we act the way we do sometimes. How can our inner motives and thoughts be in alignment with God’s? By beholding Christ, we become changed. Our character comes in alignment with His through reading, studying, and prayer.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV
