Mercy

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. (Matthew 5:7 NIV)

When I think of being merciful I think of someone who gives you mercy when you don’t deserve it.  Jesus is merciful to me even though I am a sinner.  His grace and mercy covers me.  Yet, being merciful is more.  It is about relationships.  Doing deeds of mercy for others.  Helping others because you love Jesus.  Micah 6:8 says we are “to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humble” with God.  Jesus said we are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love each other as we would ourselves.  This is what the Ten Commandments are all about: how to love God and each other.  Mercy is all about love.
