Peace through Jesus

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1 NLT

Justification through faith: The key concept in our verse today is justification. Justification is a legal term that refers to being declared righteous or acquitted of guilt. In Christ, this justification is not based on our own merits or good works but rather through faith in Jesus Christ. This means that by believing in Jesus and his sacrifice for our sins, we are made right with God.

Peace with God: Through justification by faith, we have peace with God. Before coming to faith in Christ, we are in a state of enmity with God due to sin. But through Jesus’ sacrifice, the barrier of sin is removed, and reconciliation with God is made possible. This peace is not just a cessation of hostility but also a state of harmony and well-being in our relationship with God.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ is the means by which we attain justification and peace with God. He is the mediator between us and God, and it is through His life, death, and resurrection that we are reconciled to God. This emphasizes the centrality of Christ in the Christian faith and underscores the importance of faith in him for salvation.
