Potter and Clay

But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?'” Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? (Romans 9:20-21 NIV)

Many of us are trying to figure out God’s purpose for our lives. Sometimes, we are so focused on what we think is our “big purpose” that we forget each day has many tiny God-jobs in it. We forget that the Purpose Giver assigns tasks as he sees fit for each moment. Maybe one day your purpose is to share a little love with the person standing next to you and the next day your purpose is to plant a church. Couldn’t it be that our purpose is defined moment by moment for whatever God needs right then? If we stay focused on the One who is the reason for our purpose, we won’t miss even the tiniest opportunity to respond when he calls.
