Pressing Toward the Goal

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 NIV

To achieve a goal, we must focus on that goal and do all we can to reach it. What are your goals in life? Do you have a goal to complete a certain amount of education, reach a certain level in your career field, etc.? We all have goals that we are trying to achieve in life.

What about our spiritual lives? What goals do we have? Some years ago, I had a goal to read the Bible through. I started with a Bible that was arranged in daily readings to include both the Old and New Testament each day to complete the whole Bible in a year. Since then, I have chosen different methods following reading plans and using different translations. I am still reading the Bible every day. It is the highlight of my morning. Each time I read a particular passage that I have read many times previously, I still receive new insight. The Bible is one book that you can read over and over and never get bored or think you know everything.
