Pure Joy

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4 NIV)

Let’s face it, life is not easy. So often when troubles come we want to rush through the difficulty and get it over with. Not only are we pain adverse (for obvious reasons) but we also don’t wait well. I know I don’t. So when something happens and all I hear is “Wait.”, it goes against all of my natural instincts. I feel like I am being asked to do the impossible. The Bible tells us to embrace our troubles. It also tells us to embrace the wait. Through embracing we become more patient and more mature. It is humanly impossible to surrender to this process on your own. It can only be done with a constant focus on God and through the work of the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t waste anything, especially our pain and impatience. He will use those to grow us to be more Christ-like…..if we let him.
