Quiet Time with God

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. (Psalms 62:1-2 NLT)

How can we have the same relationship that Enoch, Abraham, and many others had with the LORD?  To get to know someone, we have to spend time with them. Setting aside time each day to spend with the LORD will draw us closer to Him.  Have quality, quiet time reading scripture, studying scripture, and praying.

Life can be hectic, and it seems like there is no extra time left over for God. Some years ago, I made a commitment that I wanted to spend more time with the LORD.  I set my clock 15 minutes earlier than usual.  I also asked God to wake me up earlier if He thought I needed more time.  He did wake me up an hour before my alarm.  I complained that I didn’t want to get up, it was too early, but I got up.  I was always glad I did because the day that I was going to have needed more time with Him to give me the strength that I needed for the day.

Now, I pray while still in bed before I get up to start the day.  I spend between 30 minutes to an hour in prayer.  I love it when He wakes me up earlier than usual to spend time with Him.

Every morning I read a chapter in the Bible, as well as a few other devotionals that I receive.  One day a week, I set aside more time to spend with Him.

We all have different lifestyles and responsibilities, so what works for me may not work for you.  However, if you don’t have a quiet time each day with God, ask God what you can do to set aside quality time with Him.
