Rejecting Evil

Abstain from every form of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 NKJV

To abstain means to keep away from something that should be avoided. There may be times when something seems innocent enough and we follow it until it becomes apparent that it is not what we thought. Once we become aware of it, we should drop it. Other times we may be drawn to something because of greed or other hooks that Satan has.

Many people are lonely and search for a companion on dating sites. They ignore the red flags that dating sites have warned about. Only communicate with the dating people through the dating site. You would be surprised how many people ignore the red flags and will communicate with people through another off-site email. They fall “in love,” and then the other person starts telling them they need money for this or that. Over time the unsuspecting person has given more money than they can afford.

Look for the red flags warning us to stay away. If it is not in agreement with the Bible, stay away.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things. Philippians 4:8 NIV
