Rejoicing and Weeping with Others

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Romans 12:15 NIV

It is easier to mourn and show sympathy for someone who is going through difficult times. We want to rejoice with others when they are happy over a situation that was very good for them. Sometimes it is difficult to rejoice in someone else’s good fortune when it was something we desired and didn’t get. Envy rears its ugly head. These feelings of jealousy and selfishness come from an unregenerate heart.

LORD Jesus, you know our hearts. Sometimes there is deep resentment hiding in the depths of our hearts that we don’t even realize is there. We give you permission to remove anything that comes in between us and you. We ask for a cleansing of our soul and replace it with Your Holy Spirit to change us so that our lives can bring you glory and honor. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:26-27 NIV
