Remain in Him

John 17:5

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NIV)

The Ancient Greek word for want used here is thelo. It is translated in most Bibles as wishes or desires. But in Jesus day it actually had a much deeper meaning than that.  In a broader sense it meant willing.  “Ask for anything you are willing to ask for.” This changes the meaning from praying for things like cars, jobs and desires to praying in God’s will. Are you willing to pray statements like “God, do whatever You want with my life” or “God, what do You want for my life?” Are you willing to pray into God’s territory and not be stuck in your own?
