Save the Date!

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17 NIV

Do you love to attend weddings? The couple getting married are so much in love. It is a privilege to witness their marriage. The Bible talks about another wedding to which we are invited. We are part of the bridal party. Here are some insights on today’s verse.

The Spirit and the bride: This refers to the Holy Spirit and the Church, or the people of God collectively, who are depicted as eagerly inviting others to partake in the blessings of salvation.

“Come!”: This is an invitation extended to all who are willing to respond to the message of salvation. It’s a call to embrace God’s grace and enter into a deeper relationship with Him.

Let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’: Those who have received the message of salvation are encouraged to share it with others, inviting them to partake in the blessings of eternal life.

Let the one who is thirsty come: This symbolizes spiritual thirst or longing for truth, righteousness, and fulfillment. The invitation is extended to anyone who recognizes their need for spiritual nourishment and desires to be satisfied by the water of life that only Christ can offer.

The free gift of the water of life: Salvation is described as a free gift, emphasizing that it cannot be earned through good deeds or religious rituals. It is offered freely to all who are willing to receive it by faith.

In summary, Revelation 22:17 is a powerful invitation to embrace the message of salvation, to share it with others, and to partake in the eternal blessings that God offers to those who respond in faith. It highlights the inclusive nature of God’s invitation, which is extended to all people, regardless of their background or circumstances. Are you willing to accept the invitation?
