Sincere Love

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9 NIV)

Love is a gift.  Love is the base of all humanity.  Love is from God.  He loves us so much that He sent His son to die so that we might live.  We were created to love and be loved.  Paul is saying that our love must be sincere and not pretend.  It must be genuine.  A genuine love will hate evil.  It will cling to that which is good.  Love does not hate a person because of what they have done.  Love hates the sin, not the person.  Love helps that person to overcome evil and helps the good to grow in its place.

Romans 12:10-21 tells us how we can be sincere in our love for others.  Take delight in honoring each other.  Work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.  Rejoice I hope, be patient in trouble, keep praying.  Be ready to help God’s people in need, be hospitable.  And the list goes on…
