Strangers are Future Friends

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:1-2 NIV)

In our scripture today we are reminded that we should love one another as family.  Especially people we don’t know.  We as Christians need to reach out to those that are strangers, friends that we don’t know yet.  At church this weekend look around for someone you don’t know and sit with them.  Invite them home for a meal.  Look for visitors and make them feel welcomed.  They could just be passing through your town or they could be looking for a new church home.  To walk up to someone you don’t know can be hard.  Introduce yourself.  Ask a few questions such as do they live in the area, do they have children, what kind of work do they do, etc.  People usually like to talk about themselves and will open up.  Some people are shy and it takes some time.  Invite them home for a meal.  Before you know it they no longer be a stranger but a new friend.
