Taste and See That the LORD is Good – Part 6

James 1:19

Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. Psalms 34:12-14 NLT

In these verses, as a Christian, we have two duties. We are to avoid evil and do what is good.

We are encouraged to be mindful of our speech and avoid harmful and deceitful words. We can practice this by fostering honesty, kindness, and constructive communication in daily interactions.

Turning away from evil requires conscious decisions and actions. One can identify and avoid behaviors, habits, or influences that lead to wrongdoing while actively choosing and performing good deeds.

Pursuing peace involves both internal and external efforts. Internally, it may involve practices like prayer, meditation, or self-reflection to cultivate inner calm. Externally, it can involve resolving conflicts, building positive relationships, and contributing to community harmony.

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, James 1:19 NIV
