The Key to Resisting Temptation

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7 NIV

There is danger in trying to be a “friend” to the world. It can lead us astray. To receive God’s “grace,” we need to “humble” ourselves and be willing to submit to the will of God. Submitting means to have complete trust in God and His plans for our lives. Our pride and self-interest must be placed under God’s command. He promises that we will not be tempted beyond our power to resist. God will supply the strength to resist the devil. The weakest person who finds refuge in the power of Christ will cause Satan to tremble and flee.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV
