Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (Genesis 2:7 NIV)
When you are expecting your first child you prepare for the birth. You prepare the room. Maybe you paint it with soft colors. You hang up delightful pictures. You get a baby bed. Don’t forget the onesies, diapers, and other cute little outfits for your little one to wear. You may even buy a few baby toys. The room is now ready for the little one.
This is how I see God when he set up the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. He created beautiful flowers, trees, and grass. The earth abounded with all kinds of good things to eat. All was ready for His final creation – Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were going to be very special. They were going to look like their creator.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:26-27 NIV)
Adam and Eve, the crown of God’s creation were His children. He created them with love. What a beautiful love story.
