The past leads to the future

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4 NIV

When Paul wrote these words, he was talking about what today we call the Old Testament.  Many feel that the New Testament took the place of the Old Testament. However, much of the New Testament quotes the Old Testament. This is especially true of Revelation. If you have not read Genesis through Malachi in a long time, I would recommend you read the Old Testament and look for Jesus in the scriptures. After all, Jesus said:

You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, John 5:39 NIV

They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.” John 7:52 NIV
