The Problem Today

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth! You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. Revelation 3:15-17 NLT

We are the church living in the final days before Jesus returns. You would think that the church in the days before Christ returns would be on fire like the early church, but Jesus gives a warning to the Laodicean church – the last of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation:

I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth!

This is serious

You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

Does that sound like the generation of today? We are lukewarm. We are not on fire for the Lord. Most of us have an easy life, especially in America. We are not facing persecution. We have everything we need. We have become pew warmers.  How can we get the fire going? What does it take?

It is important to support our different missions financially. But there is greater enjoyment in seeing others come to know Jesus through our personal efforts. We need to be beautiful feet bringing the good news of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ who reigns. Everyone needs the opportunity to hear the Gospel.

We can have beautiful feet, as Isaiah and Paul said. Pray for your family, your friends, your neighbors, and how you can reach the world. Pray for divine appointments to share the Gospel. You will be amazed at how God will use you to share the Gospel with others.

To get the fire going in our lives we need to be personally active in sharing the Gospel by giving others the opportunity to hear the Good News of Christ and His return. There is nothing in all the world that is so exciting as to see someone give their heart to Jesus. You have prayed for them. You either gave them Bible studies or gave them the opportunity to study God’s word.  You watched as God’s Word changed their lives. It will bring joy to your heart.
