The right thing for a Christian to do

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44 NIV

It is interesting when you look at the Greek word for love. It is not phileō which is the love towards a friend. It is agapaō which means to love in a social or moral sense. It means to have respect for the person even though you don’t like them or agree with what they stand for. It would be very difficult to love someone like a best friend when they hate you and persecute you. Yet, we are to show respect for our enemies. They don’t have to become our best friends. Yet, it takes a lot of effort on our part to show love as respect when we are being mistreated or we don’t share their same world views.

Our world has become so polarized with COVID. Some people are for vaccines, and some are not. Even though we don’t agree with someone who thinks differently from us, we still need to give them the respect that they deserve. That is the Christian thing to do.
